Atempo, a leading provider of cross-platform data protection and archiving solutions, has appointed value-added distributor Global Distribution to help address growing demand for archiving solutions from the UK’s broadcast, media and entertainment industries.

Global Distribution will sell Atempo Digital Archive (ADA), an archiving and workflow solution designed to move data-intensive project content from primary storage to near-line and deep archival storage, to their system integrators and resellers.
In addition to extending the Atempo brand deeper into the creative industry, this agreement will leverage existing alliances that Atempo has with other brands sold by Global Distribution, in particular tape library manufacturer Spectra Logic and leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions ATTO Technology.

Keith Warburton, director of Global Distribution said: “We provide our system integrators and resellers with best-of-breed solutions to create opportunities and add-value for their end-users. Content intensive industries are motoring through disk like it is going out of fashion with little or no thought of backup or long term archive of their assets. As a result, there is strong demand for robust, feature-rich and fully-integrated digital content archiving solutions. After evaluating ADA, we were impressed with its ease of integration with other solutions, particularly with Final Cut Server.”

Stephane Kirchacker, managing director, Northern Europe and Business Development for Atempo UK, said: “Global Distribution brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in providing storage and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive environments within the broadcast market. With growing demand for ADA, it’s essential that we partner with a credible, expert and established distributor that can play an active role expanding our presence in the broadcast industry.”

About Atempo Digital Archive (ADA)
ADA goes beyond preservation and hierarchical storage management (HSM), to play a particularly active role in the day-to-day workflow. Today, more organisations require creative data to be retained at different stages in its lifecycle. Raw data, edited files and final projects need to be stored, as any version may need to be leveraged for future projects.

ADA’s critical integration with Final Cut Server and transparency to end-users allows those individuals to easily archive at various steps in the content creation process and pull information into and out of the archives as needed. This integration enables users to transfer fixed-content media assets stored in Final Cut Server into a wide number of long-term storage devices by simply using the native Final Cut Server interface.
